First Shopping Cart Item of Session Disappears

Hey everybody,

 

I've run into a little snag on a coffee site. For some reason, the first item you add to the shopping cart during a session disappears after you add a second item. I can empty the shopping cart and add more items with no disappearances. But when you've just started a session and add an item, then a second item, the first one disappears.

I was wondering if anybody has an idea of what about the first item of the session would make it disappear like that.
