beth99 Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 In trying to design my site I wanted to remove the language boxes so I went to File Manager and removed them and now I get this error on my site. Warning: main(includes/boxes/languages.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/*****/public_html/oscom/includes/column_right.php on line 44 Warning: main(): Failed opening 'includes/boxes/languages.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/*****/public_html/oscom/includes/column_right.php on line 44 How do I get them back? Or, do I even need to get them back. I didn't want them there anyway. I feel so stupid. Beth

To make changes to your site you need to edit your files not delete them. Second if you are using your online file manager you need to stop doing so as all you are going to do is cause yourself problems. Edit your files locally and then ftp them up to your server. Third Never ever make any changes to your site without backing up first!!!! All you need to do is ftp a copy of the file you deleted back to the server and you should be OK. To remove any infoboxes from your site you will need to edit your includes/column_right.php or column_left.php depending on which side the box is on. Just comment out or remove the code for the box from the file. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

beth99 Posted February 6, 2005 Author Posted February 6, 2005 I am very new at this. I don't know how to backup and can't even figure out my FTP. I will call support this am. I have to reset permissions somewhere and I've tried doing so from my FTP software and in Files in Control Panel and neither worked. I don't know how to test locally and upload using FTP. All I know is basic HTML and access database design. There is probably too much I need to know that would go way beyond the purpose of this board. I need more experience or hire a web designer to set it up for me. I seem to be spending too much time on just the basics when I need to be getting inventory into my store. I do appreciate all the help. Beth

If this is the case you really need to have a local copy of your files in case something goes wrong. ( as in this case) The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? beth99 Posted February 6, 2005 Author Posted February 6, 2005 Okay, I downloaded OSC to my computer. Do I have to unzip all the files in the folders one at a time? Do I need to unzip them? Next question. How do I set up my site locally now so that I'm not online until I have everything ready. I'm just trying to design a storefront. Is there any way to use an existing template? Beth

Beth <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There is one zip file that contains all your osC files Pick a folder on your computer then unzip your files. Have you read the install instructions in the knowledge base? If not you really need to do so. It would be a good idea to read the rest of the knowledge base as well To run your site locally you will need to install some programs. An easy way to do this is to install easyphp but to be honest you may want to wait on this as from reading your posts you probably should not go there yet. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.
