Guest Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 I have a site with about 5000 products and I am just wondering if it is possible to run the shop ,by using software like microweb from indigostar.com, from CD. If not, what are the solutions?

TerryK Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 I think being able to distribute your catalog on CD would be an excellent marketing tool. Cheap to mail, no printing costs, etc. I'd be interested in this too. (I wouldn't care if the shopping cart portion was available on CD, but having the product listings/categories would be awesome!) ArtRat Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 i think because the store is php based, the browser they use to view the cd would have to be able to parse php code. most people do not have php installed locally. the parsing is done host side then translated by a browser to be readable to the viewer. catalogs on disc would be nice. you could create a store on a disc in html that has links to your online store.
bobg7 Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 What I did was install the catalog_products_with_images contribution, when installed, click in the link in the Information box. This will open a new HTML page then in IE, do a File > Save As... > Web Page, HTML only (*.htm;*.html) to you desktop. Then I burn it to CD. This retains the links to your shopping cart so the person viewing the CD can order the item, assuming they are connected to the internet. Hope this helps. Bob G. baesic2 Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 For creating a catalog cd you could use standard HTML format in order for customers to view from their PC. this would elminate the php browser problem. Just a suggestion. Thank You In Advance, For Your Assistance From A Newbie Point Of View...
