mark27uk3 Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Hi Guys, I installed and use on a daily basis the 'SEO Assistant' contribution and have been watching my Alex Traffic Ranking go down or should I say up. Is this information a usefull guide and if so what to? Also all results show except for MSN it has never moved off zero, now I know my site is indexed by msn and the new beta msn for the uk, any reasons apart from incorrect coding in the contrib that you can think of? And finally the big G only shows 27 backlinks but I am sure I should have more than that by now. This is what the link popularity shows DOMAIN www.24-7mobileaccessories.co.ukAlexa Traffic Ranking 969,209 (view) Present in DMOZ Yes (view) Present in Zeal Yes (view) AlltheWeb 916 (view) AltaVista 970 (view) Google 27 (view) HotBot 37 (view) MSN Search 0 (view) Yahoo! 975 (view) Total 2,925 Any suggestions for advancement would be most appreciated. Jack_mcs Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Alexa reports are based on the results of people who use the Alexa toolbar and are generally considered skewed. However, I've noticed that as my Alexa rating gets better, so do my other ratings. But I wouldn't rely on it as any type of accurate measure. MSN has apparently changed their search routine whcih has broken this part of the code. I hope to get around to updating it but I just can't find the time. I checked several online tools that check Link Popularity and your result came in 25 or 27 for google each time. LP is supposed to meansure relevant links to your site, not just any link to it. Google has it own way of determing these so that is probably why the descrepency. mark27uk3 Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 Jack, I agree with you on this bit Alexa reports are based on the results of people who use the Alexa toolbar and are generally considered skewed. However, I've noticed that as my Alexa rating gets better, so do my other ratings. But I wouldn't rely on it as any type of accurate measure. If you do get the time to fix the code for MSN then please do let me know as I rely on this contrin quite heavily for a quick overview of where abouts our site is. Thanks Mark  Lifes a bitch, then you marry one, then you die!
Jack_mcs Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 I do plan on fixing it. But I have no idea when it might be due to my workload. I will post the fix when it happens though.
