tyz6970 Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Hi. I am think to copy some part of private policy, shipping & returning procedure....etc from some e-commerce website and I re-pharse here and there and also add pepper and salt here and there. Will the owner sue me for the infringement right /copyright. Hope to hear from you ppl. Tks
Guest Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 probably not. Suing someone costs money. If you are even considering that though, you should probably contact them and ask them if it's ok. Chances are they'll be fine with it. If not, then you can use theirs as a reference, nothing wrong with that. Just don't copy it. Write your own. One way to think of whether or not you're just copying there idea is this: After looking at their privacy notice once or twice, can you sit down and write one of your own, without having to go back and look at their version several times? You should be able to write your own. -jared
Guest Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 What you can do is take sections of it and Google phrases and see how many times it comes up. If it only shows up once on the internet I wouldn't use it but if there are 2,000 sites with the exact same wording then you are probably okay to use it, but not leagaly okay to use it.
