PayPal return after purchase

I have read where people say that if a customer doesn't return to their site after paying with paypal, oscommerce does not get the cart details and you are left with a payment but no idea what to ship. Is this true? If so, please provide details so that I am aware. Also, if true, how can it be avoided? I'm almost afraid of making my site live because for now I will only offer PayPal and don't want to mess up my first order. THANKS A BUNCH!!
