Hi,

Ive seemed to have broken the admin and cant add any categories or products to my store (which works fine otherwise!).

Ive tried fixing the above for the last 2 days now and I havent succeded :'(

So am thinking of it from another direction

Can anyone tell me

A- Which table in myphpadmin do I use to add a new category

B- Which table in myphpadmin do I add a new product to the above category

(I think the answer to B is products.php but am not sure)

Thanks

Not sure what you have done - but this is the way I would resolve it if I had the problem

1) Back up your site and database - for safety

2) Go to your old install files and re-install osC - BUT DO NOT REIMPORT the database (if you do you will loose all products you have loaded so far)

3) This will re-install your site with a working admin section MINUS the 3 contributions you have added.

4) If the whole thing works - do ANOTHER backup

5) Re-apply your contributions carefully and if it works - send me a beer - if it doesn't restore the backup from 4 above and try other contributions - then send me a beer

Hi Charles,

Thanks for the advice, is it as simple as deleting the catalog folder and everything in it and then reinstalling these and starting from scratch?

(I can still use the database theres nothing wrong with that for sure)

You can delete the catalog - BUT I wouldn't even do that - the re-install will overwrite what you have - just make sure you do not select the option to re-import your database else you will lose all your products - but even this is not a total disaster because if you do a backup first you can restore the backup over the re-installed database if you goof up

Thanks again for your words of wisdom Charles.

One more question if I may...

How do I initiate the reinstall.... ive looked on the forum and cant seem to find any info.

All I did first time round was copy the files over and then called the file by the web to do the configuration (as is in the documentation).

Just install it the same way you did first time round - as in the documentation :D
