VerySinful Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 I really need some input here. Our site is live and we've had a few sales from it but 1 out of every 10 customers are reporting problems viewing the images (images for them are showing as red "x's") and we can not duplicate the problem. We've checked our site on at least 6 different servers, several different computers, and still no luck in getting the problem to show (we've even involved one of our server techs and he is having the same problem as we are) . We feel like it's the users' firewalls that are causing the problems but most everyone that complains, state that they do not have problems with other sites so we are at a loss. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how have you fixed it? We are a very new small business and these loss of customers are a big deal to us, it is either causing more work and/or we are loosing sales. Thanks! Donna webmistress VerySinful.com
♥Vger Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 The problem is probably due to their connection timing out. I use a broadband connection so it's not a problem - but for someone using a 56k connection then viewing your site will be a problem You roughly have 15 images per page at around 120Kb per image. It would take forever to load on a standard connection. You need to use an auto-thumbnail contribution - because at the moment your pages are loading the full image in a reduced physical size - without cutting down on the file size. Vger

Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank you so much! That is something we never thought of. Of course every connection we've tried was broadband and neither I or the server tech even thought about that. We'll try the thumbnail contribution and see if that helps. ~Donna~
