Make And Model - Multi Level Attributes

I'm building a site that sells accessories for motorcycles. The products are Make and Model dependant. It was easy enough to modify the code to display Make and Model pull-downs on the product info page. And a little JS helps update the Model pull-down list depending on the Make selected. I can't seem to figure out how to grab those selections, combine them and add them to the shopping cart as an attribute of the product. Is there any information anywhere on how to get osC to get extra information from the product info page and use it when adding that product to the cart?
