Guest Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 OSC hosted on a Fasthosts Linux server, finally got the install to work ok. All other functions seem to work (still playing with general set-up) but when I click 'update currencies' I get a stream of errors, like this: Warning: file(): URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /home/fhlinux199/t/teddysorphanage.com/user/htdocs/catalog/admin/includes/functions/localization.php on line 14 Warning: file(http://www.oanda.com/convert/fxdaily?value=1&redirected=1&exch=USD&format=CSV&dest=Get+Table&sel_list=EUR): failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /home/fhlinux199/t/teddysorphanage.com/user/htdocs/catalog/admin/includes/functions/localization.php on line 14 Warning: implode(): Bad arguments. in /home/fhlinux199/t/mydomain.com/user/htdocs/catalog/admin/includes/functions/localization.php on line 18 Warning: file(): URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /home/fhlinux199/t/mydomain.com/user/htdocs/catalog/admin/includes/functions/localization.php on line 28 Warning: file(http://www.xe.net/ucc/convert.cgi?Amount=1&From=EUR&To=USD): failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /home/fhlinux199/t/mydomain.com/user/htdocs/catalog/admin/includes/functions/localization.php on line 28 Warning: implode(): Bad arguments. in /home/fhlinux199/t/mydomain.com/user/htdocs/catalog/admin/includes/functions/localization.php on line 32 plus about 8 more like this! Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.
ozEworks Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I am a bit of a dill with these things but when you update currencies it is running oanda (?) and maybe your server is not set up to allow that process? As in the first message. When it works you get a message for each currency on file. Maybe you mulitple messages is accounted for by that. I would contact my host about it.
Guest Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Hi Kym, I'm not being very bright really, I'll only be selling in GBP anyway so I hardly need to update the currencies! Doh! Thanks for your help though.
gray-loon Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 I'm getting the same type of errors. This is a clean install with default currency set to USD with Euros and Pounds optional. I'm new to osCommerce, so forgive me if I seem lost. Where specifically should I check the Location, Zone, Currency, etc. settings to see if they match? Thank you for your help.
gray-loon Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 I tried one of the fixes listed in another thread. Now, I get this when trying to update currencies: Warning Warning: The primary exchange rate server (oanda) failed for US Dollar (USD) - trying the secondary exchange rate server. Error Error: The exchange rate for US Dollar (USD) was not updated via xe. Is it a valid currency code? Warning Warning: The primary exchange rate server (oanda) failed for Euro (EUR) - trying the secondary exchange rate server. Error Error: The exchange rate for Euro (EUR) was not updated via xe. Is it a valid currency code? Warning Warning: The primary exchange rate server (oanda) failed for British Pound (GBP) - trying the secondary exchange rate server. Error Error: The exchange rate for British Pound (GBP) was not updated via xe. Is it a valid currency code? Are these currency codes not correct?

♥Vger Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Mungus and Gray Loon - the reason you're getting these errors is probably because your hosting company won't allow another server (Oanda) to update your database with the new currency enxchange rates. Do it manually, or move hosts. Everybody else - you're best advised to start your own thread. You're not going to get replies by pouring your problems all into one thread and saying 'Me too'. Vger
xjbhx Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I have seen this before when trying to test some PHP code on my own PC. The warning messages disappeared when this PHP ran on the server. This leads me to wonder if the config of php on your server is correct.Suggest you have a word with whoever is running your server. hope this helps.
tylerD Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 HI Vger, I have posted the problem couple times on a new thread, but it seems no one see it or just no one know where it actually went wrong..
Fractal Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 HI Vger, I have posted the problem couple times on a new thread, but it seems no one see it or just no one know where it actually went wrong.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was initially having the same problem. I made sure my currency codes were correct and still no dice. Then I noticed I didn't have a default currency set. Once I set a default and tried updating again, it worked!! -Fractal
