New Install from xcart

I am looking to install the OSCommerce Store software and replace the current store software. I am currently using Xcart, another opensource php based system which is also using MySQL. I have a lot of products and info setup in the current store ... is there any way to easily import or convert from one to the other ?

This would be a HUGE time saver and I am hoping something already exists to do so.

It might not be "easy" but it sure beats doing it manually.

 

I would start with the "Easy Populate" contribution in the osCommerce contribution section.

Create the excel file from the osCommerce site or use the sample excel file included in the contribution. Look at all the fields in the spreadsheet and create a corresponding "export" of a CSV file from phpmyadmin on your current xcart system.

 

You should be able then to add/change any info that might not have been available in xcart but needs to be in oscommerce. Then using the "Easy Populate" contribution, load your products into oscommerce.

 

Other "non-product" info would probably need to be input directly into oscommerce.

Jesse. I am very curious why you are swicthing from XCart to osCommerce? I am doing the opposite. I tried the Easy Populate and couldn't get it to work. Not it can't, obviously it can but it's very difficult. I am switching because of the way the Product attributes have to be setup. I sell clothing and just don;t have time to deal with it.
