Guest Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 it's up to you. The important thing is that it matches the hostname that you'll be using. IOW, if you customers browse to http://www.yourdomain.com, then you'll probably want the secure link to be https://www.yourdomain.com as opposed to https://yourdomain.com. It's up to you, though. If you want https://www.yourdomain.com, then register the certificate for www.yourdomain.com. That means, though, that if someone browses to https://yourdomain.com (i.e. without the www.) then they'll get a warning message that says "this certificate was issued to www.yourdomain.com and is being used by yourdomain.com. do you want to accept the certificate?" Bottom line: Be consistent. -jared
Guest Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 whether someone browses to www or to just the domain name, bottom line is you must have your ssl cert match what you put in your configure.php imho i prefer www.domain.com, as most hosts have an alias for domain.com scratching my head here, now is it http://www or http:// that started all this? No, it was Al Gore!
