totsumanu
I have had my site up for a couple of months now and all of a sudden ALL my products are gone that I have added. Pictures and everything. Now this is while my wife was uploading new products. She says that she didn't hit anything that could of caused ALL my products to disapear. Not even the folders are there. So I had another good friend check to see if he could get to the admin on his computer and he said yes. Now I have two questions: 1. How do I secure my admin panel so that only I can get to it? 2. How do I back up my entire store to be re-uploaded later if this should happen again? Thank you so much for any help on this! :D
portalplanet
Hi. Check out the contrib "admin access with levels" or use htaccess and htpasswd files to protect your admin adrea. I like the admin access with levels contrib. It's pretty flexable. Backup your database alot. Click on "Tools" and you should see database backup. I have cron scripts setup for my clients that will automatically backup their databases nightly. It will not backup their images though. Change the name of the folder, move it to root, password protect it, etc. There are contributions to assist you as well. Search a little and you'll find all of this. Keep up-to-date files on your local computer and ftp them to your server. Your hosting company should also have backups of all of the files on the server. As for the database, you should be backing that up as well (from admin) on a regular basis. You can keep those backup files on the server (they should be backed up by your hosting company along with the rest of the files) and on your local hard drive.
