vsarinelli Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Hi all, I'm in the process of setting up my e-shop with OSCommerce. I have some experience in web design but know almost NOTHING about programming. I was about to abandon my project, i.e. leave it to the hands of an expert programmer - when I found out about a little program called excel to MySQL. I downloaded the demo which lets you import only 5 rows from each spreadsheet, and that's exactly what I did. Then I went to PHPMyAdmin (Easy PHP), clicked on SQL tab and started to add rows to my newly converted database from there! I'm now in the process of studying SQL variables and general database syntax. Before I enter my 50 or so products, and go on with installation, I just want to know if I'm in the right direction? Thanks and for the few posts and contributions I've read in the last couple of days, you guys are doing a fantastic job. Congratulations, Victoria Argentina
OceanRanch Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 You probably want to look at the Easy Populate contribution. There are multiple tables that are used to represent products, so a generic tool like you describe will probably not work to well. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,500 HTH Tom
