Error driving me CRAZY for TWO DAYS!

Please HELP! I am an ipowerweb cust. Good or bad, I am. I'm also very new to setting up a web site, and unfortunately self taught.

 

I followed the steps and it seemed as if I would be successful. Until I couldn't alter my store front page. I noticed that when I got to the "includes" folder that I had to click twice and it produced a double backslash. I knew that was wrong but it was the only way to get to the languages folder. Anyway, here's the complete error msg:

 

Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/turkeycr/public_html/ecommerce/os/catalog//includes/languages/english/index.php

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated by my family so that they might avoid the expense of any extra medication for me this month!

I'm sorry to say that I don't, but I'm a pretty good student if you've got the time.

Do not use the osCommerce editor to change any files. It has a bug that will cause you headaches with deleting escape characters like \. Edit files locally or with the ipowerweb file editor (if they have one). Easiest way is to keep a backup copy of source on your pc, edit them there and then ftp to your host.

 

Also on ipowerweb installs and specifics on permissions using ipowerweb, try the following thread. Normally you can just set the permissions via the control panel on the folder and set them to read/write on the file you want to edit. You also can perform the "chmod 666" command on the file via ftp. The details are sort of explained in the following thread for ipowerweb.
