Guest Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Hi all. I have installed Easypopulate and can download the "Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit" without any problems. If I open the file in Excel and try to save it without making ANY changes whatsoever (so open then save immediately), it tells me that there are "features not compatible...". Then of course, it fails to upload using easypopulate, regardless of what settings I end up saving it as. How do I save the file correctly in Excel ready to repopulate using easypopulate please? Lobotaman Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 dtjames, I'm not an expert on this, but I have repeatedly downloaded/uploaded files with EasyPopulate over the past week. So, I will tell you what works for me and I think it's more important how you OPEN it in Excel than it is how you SAVE it. When I open the downloaded file from EasyPopulate, I do the following... [1] I click next on the "Step 1 of 3" window [2] I change the text qualifier to {none} on the "Step 2 of 3" window, then next. [3] I use the CTRL key to select all columns on the "Step 3 of 3" window, and then I select "TEXT" by clicking the radio button up there. Then click FINISH. Then, when you save it, make sure it says "Text, Tab Delimited" in the file type window. You should be fine with that. I think the "Step 3 of 3" change made all the difference for me. Lobo Quote

Lobo <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do you get the "may contain features that are not compatible.." warning when you save? Quote
Lobotaman Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Do you get the "may contain features that are not compatible.." warning when you save? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Absolutely - every single time. Proceed with the save anyway. I forgot to mention that. Lobo Quote
Guest Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 I got it uploading now - thx for your help. Things are not uploading correctly so I'll have to check the document carefully. Quote
