Colour in attribute drop down list?

I have a product that has colour as an attribute. I would like the attribute drop down list to show, for example, the word red in the colour red.

 

I have managed to get it to work in the admin side, but on the catalog side the drop down list shows this, all in black: "<font color=0D1090>Navy Blue </font>".

 

As you might guess, this is the code I entered in the Option Value.

 

The source for the page that is generated shows: "<font color=0D1090>NAVY BLUE </font>"

 

Any idea what I need to do to get osCommerce to create the HTML code correctly.
