onTheSideLines Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 Situation: Marketing people hand out fliers at tradeshows telling people to go to our site to purchase stuff. On the flier is a collectors gift card. Flier recipient visits our store... picks a product.. creates account.. goes to checkout...ba da bing.. no box to enter code to redeem the gift card value. :'( I realize that is because we don't have the gift card associated with their account. Ergo they won't have credits in the shop's db. Our situation is that the credit should go with the card and not be tied to any person until they redeem it. Just like any traditional card you purchase at a bricks-n-mortar shop.. like your friendly Walmart for example. A card can only be redeemed by one account. So security-wise, once person A redeems it, person B can't. This current contrib already allows card holders to transfer balances. For example, if person A transfers part/all of the card to person B, a new coupon_id will be generated and associated directly with person B. To reiterate my situation: We issue gift cards and want our customers to be able to use them via the online shop. Sorta like the LL Bean purchase workflow. We don't have to know who you are. We just need to know that card code 123abc is worth $25.00. Once you redeem it then we track it against your purchases. Question of the day is: Does the Credit Class & Gift Voucher contrib. support this without major overhaul or does anyone know of a contrib that may? Thanks Quote
