Can't find SQL?

Just started to attempt an install of ocCommerce. Looks great so far; but having trouble getting it to find oscommerce.sql. I have made sure to chmod 777 both configure.php files as well.

The following error has occurred:

SQL file does not exist: /install/oscommerce.sql

Obviously, the file does exist. Maybe I have it at the wrong place? Here's the skinny... Runing RH Linux w/Apache2, PHP4.2 and MySQL, and they are playing nicely together. Install script starts properly, and I get to the screen that says to be sure of location of /install/oscommerce.sql database. Believe me it is there. I tried using MySQLAdmin to create a new one, and it wouldn't because... guess what... it already exists!

I am running a virtual host, and also have an original Apache running side by side so I can do testing before going live. The only difference, is they are each listening on different ports. So in my test configuration, I'm going to 1.2.3.4:1001/catalog/install/index.php which is great. Is there something else I should be doing? :(

Alrighty then... the documentation was a little misleading in that I thought it was talking about the document root for the webserver; but after a little digging, I found that the catalog wanted to be in the root directory. Well, if it feels comfortable there then so be it. Anyway, thanks for all the assistance directing me to the tutorials, and to Read The Fine Manual. Now I have to get to work personalizing the shop for my store front. B) I'm sure I will be back with more questions... just don't be too harsh.
