Rob123 Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 This is an interesting question. I assume you are doing this as a proof of concept or demo for a customer. The easy answer is "No" and my recommendation is to install it on laptop. Robert (I heard rumors of linux live-distro cd's with LAMP installed, but that's not within the scope of this forum.)

Robert (I heard rumors of linux live-distro cd's with LAMP installed, but that's not within the scope of this forum.) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know program like dwebpro and other allow php/mysql web to run on CD. if we modify the osC not to run based on Sessions and not to write any info on the disc - just get data and display them- , is it possible then?
Rob123 Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 I was leaning more towards Lamppix, however a working knowledge of Linux is necessary. I believe that osC will not run properly without sessions (stored to disk or dB). However, according to the Lamppix Forums the MySQL database is writeable as it lies in the ramdisk. But if you reboot, all your changes will be lost, if you don't backup. My suggestion is give either solution a shot... I know what I will be doing this weekend. <_< HTH, Robert

Rob123 Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 Maybe someone else can comment on a "no sessions" version of osC or using a windows app like dwebpro. Robert
Mark Evans Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 I have played with lamppix in the past and have had sucess running oscommerce using this. I am on windows environment. Can anyone comment on the no session OSC used for cataloging purposes only? Thanks
timisnumber9 Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 DwebPro works for running oscommerce on a CD. It took me a while to get it working but now it runs smoothly. go to dWebPro and have a look. You will need to download the DwebPro software and the following addons: - PHP 4.0 - phpmyadmin (dont need it but it makes life easy) - MySQL 4.0 Make sure that you set your http.ini to make a temp folder. Cheers, Tim
