hello

was just wondering are you best to thumbnail images on the home computer and then upload or is it better to use a contribution and do this on the server, if so does anyone no of a good version to use as their is a few to choose from ( running a computer store so need thumbnail images, as well as larger versions), and is their info on how to install these contributions ( i have no idea) and their use.

I use "on the fly" auto thumbnailer, this works really well and you only have to upload the larger images and everything else is done for you. You can see how it handles my images Here at my website. I installed this some time ago, when i didn't really have any idea about using and installing contributions, so it can't be that difficult to install if i did it back then.

Hope this helps, and good luck

Personally, I don't like the idea of the web server manipulating graphics data to shrink it down to thimbnail size on the fly. In my mind, it's not what it's there for, forces you to build in some graphics library into PHP (such as GDI - are there others ?), and it's processing and memory overhead that the web server can well do without.

...but that's just my opinion.

There are lots of tools for creating thumbnails on your PC.

I think you downloaded the wrong one, its 16 Sep 2004 - 'On the Fly' Auto Thumbnailer v 1.5, not the top one in the list.
