Guest Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I am trying to figure out what is the apropriate method of performing search engine optimaization in osCommerce. I dont want to use any third party scripts. I read a post about all the files in the Content directory, however, my install doesn't have a Content directory. Does one just edit the files directly? Thanks, Jeff
Jack_mcs Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I don't know what you mean by content. Do you possibly mean catalog? In any event, I assume by your question that you are talking about the title and meta tags. If this is so, then most of the filles in your root directory (commonly referred to as catalog) need to be edited. This won't take into account your product pages though. That is why it is usually recommended to install a contribution like Header Tags Controller. There are other options but this contribution gives you the best control over future changes IMO. ozcsys Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 One of the site map contributions is also a good idea. Makes it easier for the bots to get all your product pages from your index page The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
