sub admin categories

I'm using a good contrib that limits page access to sub admin users in the admin section. We'd like to take it a step further and limit categories for each sub user. In our case, we have multiple artisits, each with their own category. We'd like to associate categories with each user so that they see only their category and no one else's.

 

I've looked through all the contributions and have not seen any category limting functionality for admin users.

 

Question: Is there a contrib out that will address that issue? If not, does anyone have any suggestions? I think it would be a great contribution for me and others to work on. Like a multi store but more efficient.
