Paypal UK Recent Changes

I have recently had major problems with completing paypal orders. I had the same problem a while ago but fixed it by setting the auto return URL, which pretty much eradicated the problem. Anyway the same problem just popped up again. After this happened a few times recently I double checked my paypal setting and noticed that they have just added the feature enabling UK customers to pay without signing up for a paypal account (I think this has been available in America for a while now). While it is great that users don?t have to sign up for an account I have read into it and noticed that if they do not sign up then the auto return feature is disabled, thus the sales are failing to register properly. I have currently set the option to not sign up to off for the moment. What I would now like to look at is using the paypal IPN module. Do any UK users know if the paypal IPN module is functioning correctly with the new changes made to paypal and is it possible to take advantage of the no signup feature by using the IPN. Also what version to use in the UK with oscommerce 2.2.

Well all I know about it is from the information avilable within my account. Go to My Account/Profile/Website Payment Preferences/Paypal Account Optional - Learn More. There is not much there it just says that if they dont choose to create an account then the auto return will not work. I think it is a great idea to have the optional account as I have lost a lot of customers when they find they also have to sign up to paypal, but I will probably lose just as many to failed checkouts and it is also a very unprofessional having to email them to retry the checkout. I want to test a sale to see what happens exactly but my card was swallowed by an ATM and im waiting for a new one.

Thanks Michael, I'm trying to find out as much as possible at the moment. In the mean time can you post your findings in The Official osCommerce PayPal IPN Module v1.0 For 2.2MS2 . This information might be valueable to the osCommerce Team. (especially that MS3 will be release this year)
