osocoloso Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Sorry to post this on its own topic, but it's not a CCVG issue or an osC Affiliate issue so I didn't want to post it on either thread. It's more of an issue when combining both. I've installed both the CCGV and osC Affiliate contributions, and have run into a potential problem where an affiliate could potentially get double commissions. For example, in a shop where an affiliate gets 10% commission: - A customer follows the affiliate link and purchases a $100 gift certificate. The affiliate gets 10% commision = $10. - Later on, customer (or the recipient of the GC) follows an affiliate link and purchases $100 worth of stuff. The affiliate gets 10% commission = $10. This yields a total commission of 20%. Add to this any promotions (like free shipping or 10% off) and it adds up to a huge chunk of the sale. The easiest solution would be to not pay commission on gift certificates but rather on actual product purchases. Has anyone experienced this and made any changes to osC Affiliate so that products that start with GIFT do not count towards affiliate commissions?
