Getting *very* frustrated. Can anyone help?

Hi all,

I'm beginning to get frustrated. I have a photographic gallery and I need to be able to set images: unframed and unmounted, unframed but mounted and framed. Obviously the price will differ for each. I've setup product attributes to reflect this. When I did this originally the price I set up in the attributes was added to the base price I entered when I added the product. Fair enough, so next when I add a product I set price to 0. Ok, now it sort off works but all the images now have a price of 0 displayed and in the shopping cart (after adding an image) the price looks like this ?-72.50 instead of ?72.50!

Please forgive me, but there *must* be a way of doing this in a simpler, logical way, after all this is a very common feature of any store.

I've also checked this forum, the knowledge base and contribution but I'm not getting anything satisfactory. Oh hell, this is turing into a rant :-(

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction to sort this out?

Thanks

sarah.

:(

p.s. and another question, when I add attributes I notice it did not update globally to all my images, is this normal?

are you wanting the attribute to be the actual price of the product?

have a link to the site?

Thanks Mibble for your quick reply.

That's a good question - but I reckon I do, but I'm not sure now that you mention it 'cause there are three options or is that attributes. See I'm going mad!.

This is how I'd like it.

there would be an image here

Image - 'Balloons in the sunset'

unframed and unmounted - ?15.00

unframed but mounted - ?35.00

framed - ?85.00

I'm guessing the options would be in a drop down or perhaps not, but that's not an issue so long as they can select which pricing option they want. That's it, it's a basic setup (or at least I thought!). Sadly I don't have a URL as it's still in development on my local server. Does this info make sense to you? If not I'll try a more explicit description.

you didnt state what the base price is (is it 15?)

all you have to do for dropdowns is create the attributes with the proper text and then add the price when you tie them together.

just play with the attributes and you will find your answer. it is already built into oscommerce.

as far as layout that is another issue. you have to layout your product_info.php page to your iking.

Ok, I see, maybe I'm getting somewhere. When I add a product the price I enter is the base price, is that right? Example: Added image with a price of ?10.00. The price under the thumbnails on the index page now displays ?17.60 (not sure why it's not ?10.00 - tax class is set to none). Then for each option I have unframed and unmounted 0.00, unframed but mounted +20.00 and framed +50.00. Now I add an unframed but unmounted image which should be ?10.00 (base price in add product) + ?20.00 = ?30.00 however the price in the cart is ?52.80. Something's not right.

Ok Mibble bear with me, I think somethings happening in my head!

you probably have display with tax set to true (most likely it is including the vat too)

I had my default currency set incorrectly!!!

Ok now seems to be working as I expect it. But, and hopefully my last question for today at least: It seem as though whenever I add a product I need to add its option attributes and values too, is this correct or can this be done globally so it applies to all my products which are all the same of course?

you need to do it with each product, if you use easy populate contribution then you can do so there very easily.

attributes sets may work but more installation than easy populate.

Right, I'll have a look now.

Thanks for your help - I'm feeling better now :D
