check your merchant agreement to see if this is even legal. you could lose your merchant agreement if this is against the terms.

this has been discussed many times in the forum.

Please wait more than two hours before bumping your post.

Adding a fee to your credit card transactions is against Visa/Mastercard rules in the US. Depending on where your shop is, your rules may be different. Regardless, it's bound to piss off your customers. On the internet, 99% of your transactions will be credit card even if you offer other payment options. It's a cost of doing business that you have to factor into your pricing. I personally would not buy from an online shop that had a surcharge.

That said, there's probably a contribution for it. Have you searched there?

sorry about being impatient.

I have searched the contributions, but could not find what i was looking for.

I am in Australia and some of the biggest sites that we have, charge a fee for credit cards. Their prices are for EFT or cheque and if you go to the checkout and use credit card you get stung with a fee. And it is well displayed on thier sites that credit cards incure a fee.

I guess the laws must be different in AUS coz even my distributors do the same thing.

Thats probably why i could'nt find the answer i was after, coz it's illegal everyware else.

But saying all of that, if there is any advice anyone can give me it would be greatly received.

did you read YOUR agreement with your merchant account. just because they do it doesnt mean you can. do it.

if you do you will need to post a disclaimer about what you are doing and then in the checkout payment read the total and then add to it, and display the amount you are charging on a line.

So if i find out it's cool, then how i would i go about adding all that to the checkout page.

Is it a matter of someone saying "just paste this into you checkout page" or a matter of paying someone to write the code

Luke

Ps yeah as you can tell i dont know anything about writing code.
