Hi all

Does any one know if Fedora Core 2 has an FTP client?

Whats it called?

i did a search on ftp using:

> find / -name ftp

and i have a file in usr/bin/ftp

when i typed in ftp i got this message:

[root@localhost etc]# ftp localhost

ftp: connect: Connection refused

ftp>

I want to use FTP with oscommerce so i can upload files on my localmachine

Is there a graphical FTP that i could use?

I also found this:

[root@localhost etc]# find / -name vsftpd

/etc/log.d/scripts/services/vsftpd

What is vsftpd? if its anything to do with ftp how do i get this service to start?

OR where can i download an FTP client from? And is there any documentation for it?

I have posted this question in other forums but ive had no replies!!

Thanks for your comments in advance, hope u can help!

Hi missblonde20,

Yes there is a graphical ftp client called gftp.

vsftpd is an ftp server.

Are you using fedora machine as a client or a server which has oscommerce installed on it.

If it is a client PC than you need gftp if it is not and it is a server than you need vsftpd installed and start it as ftp service.

Please provide more info....

vsftpd get be configured to run on its own or you can use xinetd to start it....your pick.

Thanks

hope this helps...

HI, Thanks for your reply

I have oscommerce installed already on my local machine - no servers!! All im doing is testing and mucking around with oscommerce, it's not going to be a fully functional shop or anything.

I would like to know how to actually use gftp with oscommerce - how would i go about starting gftp, do i have to install it from somewhere first?? where can i get gftp from?

thanks
