Found this on another industry related forum (our industry) - and if you ship things, you know how much boxes can be. The smart ones look for free shipping containers/packing material...so here, this link is actually PRIVATE now. It's for invite only but they do not know which person was invitied. They took it down from the public because it was being abused because people were getting printer paper sized boxes and using them for personal storage. Please don't I like this program and would love to continue to get free boxes, so for those of you that have to ship products that LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES (as it is only the US Postal server) - here you go! Just sign up for a BUSINESS ACCOUNT. There is NO cost and they take no CC#'s. It's COMPLETELY legal and if you use priority USPS mail, it's even better because the boxes are already labeled as such. IF you don't, well...I think they frown on this but you could probbaly cover it with white strapping tape of something..

Here is the link...again...enjoy it while it lasts. I picked up 150 boxes myself. :)

Let's not forget that you electronically agree to the following:

Terms of Agreement

I understand that Express Mail?, Priority Mail?, Global Express Guaranteed?, Global Express Mail? and Global Priority Mail? packaging is the property of the United States Postal Service and is provided solely for sending Express Mail?, Priority Mail?, Global Express Guaranteed?, Global Express Mail? and Global Priority Mail?. Misuse may be a violation of federal law.

... and let us also not forget that, on top of being just flat dishonest, misuse of these free shipping supplies is the quickest way to get USPS to cease offering them to those of us who do use them legitimately and truly appreciate that the Postal Service has made them available at no cost.

... if you want to REALLY see something that doesn't set up right out of the box without some tweaking,

What would your customers think when they receive their order in a Priority Mail box but UPS or FedEx delivers it? Boxes are cheap if you find the right source and select the standard sizes (which are substantially discounted). I use both a local company and ULINE (online). ULINE is great because the quality is much better than the local company - and the price is very cheap (you need to select the discounted boxes which are in the most popular sizes). Boxes and shipping are both an expense that online retailers need to live with - using Priority Mail boxes for anything but Priority Mail is not a credible (or honest) solution.

Also note that the US Post Office is under federal jurisdiction. So, you would be breaking federal law. Fed Ex and UPS will not deliver packages with USPS branding, so you would definitely have to cover the package before shipping with them. Also, be careful that your customer doesn't turn out to be a USPS employee.

However, if you ship USPS definitely take advantage of the boxes they offer for Priority mail shipping.

These are still available but you have to signup first to find them and they are a bit hidden.

As to those who like to find a negative in everyones post, don't worry I won't share anymore links that can help anyone. I'll just sit here and 'star farm' from now on. ;)

In all seriousness, don't use the boxes at all. We don't want those overpaid postal workers to keep working, and those darn little box makers - they've had it too good for too long I say!

:P

(enjoy to those that know how..)
