Help With EP!

Well... i've spent most of the day reading posts in this forum, and didn't find the answer i was looking for, so i decided to post my own topic.

Yes, i know, there's a whole lotta redirecting to a certain topic here regarding Easy Populate, and i can tell ya right away, i didn't find the answer there either.

Here's the problem:

I am helping a pal of mine to set up a shop, i have the list of stuff that's supposed to be in the shop, the "database" he is using for his old shop, workin' fine on his old, but as i noticed, it's not just to upload that one to OSC, it has to be formatted in some sort of way first, so that OSC can read it.

The list is located at http://www.codetronics.se/filer/priser.txt

I tried to just ad the list to an complete tabdelimited .txt, and tried to upload it, but it didn't work as i planned... well... nothing worked...

So... if someone please could direct me in the right direction, or atleast tell me how the formatting is supposed to look in the file when i open it in excel, then i would be more than greatfull... and if ya can do it in swedish i will be more than impressed!

With regards

In your Admin, go to Catalog, Easy Poplulate and then select Download Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit. This contains all of the columns necessary to update your database. I just cut and pasted the information from my original database into this format and it worked great.

Thanks,

Matt

If you need to import this data on a regular basis (because it changes) then you might also be interested in this...

...one of the scripts included in it is one called import_data. It will import a foreign (ie - non-easypopulate) data set and convert it to the correct format for you.

If you only need to do this the once though then you are as well to load the data into a spreadsheet and manually move the columns about to get the required format.

Just to add to that I usually add a few products manually first just to make sure that I have a better visual on all the fields and what is really in them and not just empty tables without knowing for sure what goes where.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
