Error after successful install

Hi Folks,

Coldfusion programmer here trying to jump off into PHP. I have completed the register_globals MOD and was able to create a store. At the end of the wizard it said success.....but when I click on "ADMINISTRATION TOOL" I get the following error:

 

Unable to connect to database server!

 

On the following page: catalog/admin/index.php

 

Any suggestions on where I look from here for a fix?

 

Any help would be appreciated.
