how to re-install a backed up database?

Hi,

I'm a newbie on this. I setup a store and did some modification, and I backed up the database, as .sql file and saved on my hard drive.

After I delete the existing installation and re-install, I could find no where that I can upload the backed up database to replace the template.

can anybody help me on this? thanks.

Is your database backup file in the catalog/admin/backups folder? If you go to the admin panel and look under Tools > Database Backup, can you see a backup file?

you need to have the code which you made changes to, if it also ties in theh the mysql database. use phpmyadmin to import the backup file.

Thanks for all the reply, I'm learning more and now able to retrieve the backed up database. I used database admin from my host's control panel, and then import the backed up database. so far so good.
