Guest Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Seems that the authorize.net site and gateway are dead. I'm told this is due to a physical weather event in Utah. Does anyone have more info? Thanks, Iggy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I tried running a test transaction and got this: "Our servers are currently too busy to handle your request. Please wait a minute and resubmit. Thank you." I was able to log on to their web site though.
Guest Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 The latest: Unplanned System Downtime At approximately 3:20 PM Pacific time, the payment gateway experienced a brief unplanned downtime resulting from a large scale power outage at the data center of our primary Internet Service Provider (ISP). Your ability to process transactions and/or access the Merchant Interface may have been temporarily disrupted. The security and reliability of the payment gateway is our highest priority. The data centers that house our servers are state of the art and include numerous power sources and backup systems. At the time of the power failure, we immediately began implementing our disaster recovery plans; however, power was reinstated in short order, negating the need for further action. The reason for today's failure is not yet known, however we will work closely with the data center to investigate the failure to assure that this type of event does not occur again in the future. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced as a result of this uncontrollable downtime. Transaction processing and Merchant Interface access are now fully restored.
Iggy Posted January 15, 2005 Author Posted January 15, 2005 Well, my guess then is that they're with Internap. No info yet on exactly what happened there but it seems to have taken LiveJournal down as well. It'll be interesting to hear EXACTLY what it takes to lose power at an Internap facility. Truth be told, I bet it's something pretty small, seemingly inconsequential and overlooked. Ah well. AuthNet handled it pretty well although I ended up with some perturbed phone calls from customers.
