dwatson Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Hi, I just installed osCommerce on my dev environment, and its working. Next step: I want to set up a simple test storefront and administer it. I went to the osCommerce, on-line knowledge base, but it seems more of a reference than a tutorial. Can anyone recommend a basic tutorial on how to set up a store, products, categories, inventory, prices etc. etc. ? Maybe I'm just missing something on the osCommerce site. I would like to do this before I start looking into the PHP code. Thanks, David Watson Thanks, David Watson
OceanRanch Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 There are no "flash" based geewiz tutorials that you sit back and watch and learn everything about osCommerce. Some ISPs might have a few admin tutorials with packaged solutions, you could probably google around and find a few. The best way is to open up the knowledgebase documentation AND open up your admin page and walk thru the options. All the information is there to get a good feel for what you can customize and what settings you might want to change from the default. My .02 cents...... HTH Tom
dwatson Posted January 14, 2005 Author Posted January 14, 2005 Thanks, I had a feeling that was the approach. Most packages, even "higher-end" ones like Smarty templates have a "crash course" doc. Might not be a bad addition for osCommerce. Just a thought from a newbie. I have learned a lot of software tools, and I always like getting started as fast as possible. Thanks, David Watson
Guest Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 http://www.demodemo.com/tutorials_osc.html for the basic admin Flash tutorial OceanRanch was talking about. And yes Knowledge Base and this Forum are your best friends.
