duh-which program on a imac opens text editor?

:'( thanks for the help! i will seek out those files. if i were and download a php file which program supports text editor?

we have an imac i tried adobe and picture viewer and even apple works. what am i doing wrong?

Nothing, there is no real text editor on MacOS X. Personally, I use JEdit which is Java based and has a lot of the bells and whistles that commercial text editors like BBEdit have but this one is Open Source.

If you are on OS 9, I would think SimpleText would work. You may need to use the Open command from SimpleText.

 

If you are on OS X (10.3.5 or higher), get TextWrangler 2.0, which is the free-ware version of BBEdit (arguably the #1 text editor for OS X).
