Jan Zonjee Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 what am i doing wrongNothing, there is no real text editor on MacOS X. Personally, I use JEdit which is Java based and has a lot of the bells and whistles that commercial text editors like BBEdit have but this one is Open Source.
dminton Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 If you are on OS 9, I would think SimpleText would work. You may need to use the Open command from SimpleText. If you are on OS X (10.3.5 or higher), get TextWrangler 2.0, which is the free-ware version of BBEdit (arguably the #1 text editor for OS X). http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/18529 If you are on an older version of OS X (or OS 9), get BBEdit Lite 6, which I think is still available for free: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/604 David
