missblonde20 Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Hi When i try running //localhost/install/install.php i get an error The requested URL /catalog/install/install.php was not found on this server. Apache/2.0.49 (Fedora) Server at localhost Port 80 i have gone through all the stages, i have php, mysql and apache i have created a database called oscomm and have set up a new user. the database doesn't contain any tables, do i need to import anything from the catalog directory? how do i do this? anyone got any ideas plz reply as im clueless!!! thanks xx
missblonde20 Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 i fogot to mention that i have linux fedora core 2 i have un tar'ed the file and moved the catalog file to my web root dir which is var/www and catalog is in there. ive reset the permissions some to 777 and some to 755 i just cant seem to get the localhost/install/install.php thing to work any ideas????????

Have a look and see if there are files like index.html in the directory you are untarring to. If there are make sure you can see the exact files in the directory in you web browser referring to you site www.<yourdomain.ext> Cheers free is often better than cheap

If there are make sure you can see the exact files in the directory in you web browser referring to you site www.<yourdomain.ext> Cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hi i was told that the tar.gz file needs to be stored in /home i did this and then un tar'ed it and it created a file called oscommerce123etc in my home directory!! was this wrong? where should i have downloaded the tar file to? it then told me to copy the catalog and admin files to my web root, which is var/www and i have put both files in www.
