need state drop down box in create account

hello, I am having an issue and im not too sure if this is a bug or not. when I go to create an account it asks you to put in your state. well most people abreviate but it requires you to type the whole thing in. if you dont it tells you to select your state from the drop box below and it would be much more convenient if they could use the drop box the first time. any contributions for this, or fixes, and suggestions?

I noticed that too. I think it's a bug. It does that on all my store fronts. If there IS a fix, I too would like to know about it

This is a problem with the basic code. The better solution is to install the Country-State Selector contribution. It fixes the problem in the address book as well and also works with changing countries.

Then I agree...installed it last night at it works beautifully.
