:D Can anyone, everyone please look at my website. It has been live for 3.5 months and I have only had one sale and over 8000 visitors. I look forward to your insight. What is wrong with the site? With the shopping experience? Just last night someone went to purchase and when it got time to complete the payment process, she disconnected from the session.

All comments are welcome.

Your page is too wide for me, i have to scroll across to see the whole site. Dont like your color scheme too much. WAY too many categories for my taste.

Why do you have sale prices of 9.99 when the original price is $10??

I get an SSL error when going to my account or trying to checkout.

Just a few things I've seen right off the bat. You should've noticed these things with the 3.5 months you've been up.

You've got some lovely products!

The site is nice and basic (so it mine - I don't see that as a problem personally). However, I think the shades of blue and green are not the best.

Also, some of the photos are somewhat distorted (like bountiful harvest thumbnail).

I had a look through your terms etc. I am always wary of shops which display such comprehensive legal jargon. It makes me wonder if I'm setting myself up for trouble.

Also, this line "Substitutions - Our designs and inventory are constantly changing to keep up with new trends and styles, so we reserve the right to change any container or its contents with a product of equal or greater value at anytime." worries me. Will I actually get what I think I'm getting. Wouldn't it be better to confirm with the customer that they are happy to receive a different product if it has changed? I'd give them the opportunity to say yes or no - it's their money. When I have issues like this (as we all do) I often find it better to phone or email the customer. If they receive an excellent, friendly, honest service - they'll tell their friends.

I hope this helps and that you take my comments in the spirit that they are meant. I'm trying to help.

Best of luck

Why do you have "Gift Basket" repeated so times here in the footer? Especially in the bottom paragraph. It says "Gift Baskets by Angel offers nationwide shipping to the following cities and states: ", but every city/state has "Gift Baskets" after it, which are neither cities nor states ;)

You've also got a few repeated; Texas and Tennessee.

It might scare customers off, because it looks like you're trying to fool search engines into giving you a higer rating by repeating your keywords over and over. I'm not saying that's what you're tyring to do, but that's what it might look like to a potential customer.

Your green footer bar does not extend all the way across your site, and makes it look mismatched to the top.

Your image sizes are pretty big, people on dial-up might be laving your site before it fully loads.

eg:

Width: 126px

Height:120px

File size: 149.12kb!

Use seperate, small images for your thumnails, rather than using your huge "click to enlarge" image and reducing the width and height. It'll help your site load much faster for customers! ^_^

And, as a FYI, Google and Yahoo are two of the major players that not only ignore such attempts to "fool" engines, but actually have taken precautions and tactics to lessen one's rating on their results when such practices have been determined to be in use. DMOZ, the directory behind Google and thousands others, has actual people in directories constantly viewing and checking pages, and this is one thing they will look for. It could cause your site to a) be deleted from the directory or B) be temporarily banned from the directory.

In other words, it makes no sense to people when they read it, and it is bad for the two top ranking engines, so I would remove it.

As for design, I would start with the coloring. It is a bit wild and clashing for what you are selling.

Good luck

I must agree with all the points raised above, also your backlinks are to other sites stands at 9.

Without quality links from other sites (some will say related, some will tell you it does no t matter) you have no exposure on the net at all.

Your buttons dont match the rest of your site, some of your images that show in the specials box are so big that they compress the main content.

You have a phone number on your contact page but no address, customers like to see where you are even if it is your home address.

One thing that really stands out that would put me off from buying is that your product titles show things like 'Affordable $16 Gift' when the price is $560. If the customer is browsing through the product listing then this looks a bit off putting.

Get rid of the oscommerce table background images, blank ones are better than them.

I dont have the time to go through your site and give you an extensive list of changes but the whole site could do with a complete revamp!

hi

don't worry about the sales not going so well, you need to worry about that if the sales don't improve once your site is re-vamped (and i mean re-vamped)

a couple of people have left very good positive feedback for you, in my view (and i'm no pro!) you may not need to start from scratch.

you have given your customers too much info straight from the homepage. all the boxes in the right except the shopping cart are probably not required, if you get the ones you need (not newletter subscribe/unsubscribe etc) and move them to the left and then take out the right column completely it will stop the page scrolling left to right and that is a no no for selling! try it with the index page and if it looks good just do it with the rest.

now about the colour scheme, that too is a no no.... try playing around with colours until a decent contrast appears (if you have dreamweaver then you can use the colour panel to get the #123456 six digit colour code and put it in the css stylesheet. sooner or later you'll get it right :-)

Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back!

Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you?

There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere.
