Guest Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Sounds like an easy contribution to code...I might throw something together and upload if my time allows. Bobby

mugitty Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 I've been looking to do something similar also, as I many times will determine availability of a special order item on a per case basis and want to make it available to the specific customer who has asked about it but not to anyone else at that time. The first question that arises if it is done via a special password is how that would affect other things that a given customer might do when logged in under their original username and password. I guess that if a password protected category were created, you could put protected items all in that category and thus be able to send the same password to any customer who was to be allowed access, but you would still have a link of some sort that would be visible to all (unless you somehow created the category as hidden and sent them the URL and password for access). In my old version of osC (2.2 pre-MS1), when I made a product inactive from the Admin, it would cease showing when browsing the catalog but if the specific URL for that items' product_info page was pasted into the address bar, it could still be seen. In MS2 though, that yields the products' page with the product name in the breadcrumb, but shows "Product Not Found" in the body instead of the product description. ... if you want to REALLY see something that doesn't set up right out of the box without some tweaking, try being a Foster Parent!
