backup PANIC!

Hi everyone...

I've tried searching the oscommerce forums for the solution to my answer, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I have a working oscommerce site, with approx 2300 products on it. Only in English.

We have had no issues backing up until about a month ago... now I click Backup, and it goes to "404 error" page not found error. When I refresh the previous page (the page you click Backup on) the backup is there, but it fails around 3-4 megs... (the backup is normally 16-17megs)

I then go to phpmyadmin and i can do an sql export of the whole database EXCEPT for products_description, which I have to do seperately. Could this be the problem? that the database is actually too big for the backup?

I have seen that other people are talking about 15000 products and we only have 2300 approx!

Please help... completely stumped...

the db is not too large for the backup, it is how your host is letting scripts execute.

you could have some failure in your db, where it needs to be optimized

I've optimized all tables in the database (using phpmyadmin) just for good measure, i also "repaired" all tables.

What do you mean by "how your host is letting scripts execute". Is there something I can ask them about in particular? something specific...
