brandonhuston Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I like oscommerce but I would rather have my own design for my site. I am in the process of making a new website and I was wondering if it is possible to still use the oscommerce shopping cart and checkout procedure? I like the way the check out works with oscommerce (ie.. shipping rates based on weight and the customer being able to pick what payment method and shipping service they would like) So I am wondering if I can "link" to the oscommerce shopping cart when someone adds an item to the cart or if I can take the already existing shipping, cart, payment, etc... php files and apply them to my new site. Is this going to be very difficult if doable? thanks Brandon
Simmy Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Anything's dooable if you're talented enough (not like me) but you're going to need about 80% of oscommerce to do it so why not merge your site into OSC rather than the other way round! This site was posted for review the other day, I think it shows what can be done with OSC.... http://www.smartmarine.co.nz/

Simmy Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Sounds great, but I don't have a clue how to do that! Brandon <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And you'd have the same problem the other way round too!! At least by merging your site to OSC there'd be less coding. More of a 'look and feel' job. There's plenty advice to be got on this forum for that but you may struggle to get any help for the other option.
