Searching extra product fields

I haev used the contribution found at http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1158/ and used it to add extra product fields to a product, I had actually already done this, it was the search bit i was interested in. This contrib enabled me to make all those fields searchable, however the extra search fields only work with full matches.

 

For instance if in my name column I have Paul McCann, if i do a search for Paul it wont show, how do i make the new search boxes do partial searching?
