How Do I Install A Custom Made OsCommerce Template

It really depends on the template and your site. Is the template for osC and if so for a default install or for a verion with a template system? Do you have a template system installed on your site or do you have the default install?

 

If they match up then it should just be a matter of replacing and adding files and images but if not you will need to do it piece meal.

I just have the default install, the files I need to upload are the index.html, the stylesheet and the images which are all pointing correctly on the html index page.

Then go ahead and backup your site (always !! ) and ftp the files where they need to go. You should not have any problems but never do anything without backing up your files first.

How does the index.html file work .. does it replace the index.php automatically or do I have to rename?

I did not catch the html part, sorry I should read slower. osC does not use an index.html file and if that is what your template has it is not made for osC.

 

Your best choice may be to install the sts template system as you can incorporate your html file fairly easy with that.

Go to the contribution section and search for sts or template. It comes with install instructions and it has a pretty active support thread.
