New Store

Got my store up and running. Would like some feedback if anyone would mind.

Visually, your site reminds me of those built by engineers :)

 

It is calculated, clean and gets the point across. Here are my suggestions:

 

1. Lose the under construction image since technically websites (good ones) are continually under construction.

 

2. Your logo is hard on the eyes. I would try increasing it a bit. I have no clue what it is but I know I have to get up to the screen to fully read it on a 1024 resolution.

 

3. Feedback is a great tool to not only provide your customers with a way to contact you with issues, but also allow you to weigh the good and bad of your site that the average customer is having problems or not having problems with.

 

4. The catalog section of the site resembles stock osCommerce. Not terrible, since you have pleasing colors and scheme. Again, this logo is even worse, I would definitely look into ways of making it easier to read and recognize.

 

5. You have a login box AND the welcoming "guest" statement. I would lose one, preferrably the "guest" statement. Replace it with a search engine optimized statement to your customers introducing what you do, etc. I know this is stressed on your main site, but for people who come immediately to your shop it is nice to have info easily available telling them about yourself (company) and why they should buy from you.

 

6. Downloadable catalog is great idea.

 

7. Shipping/Returns section is absent, or under construction. Same as not there. If I were to buy from you, that means if I have shipping or returns questions I have to submit a feedback to you, e-mail you or contact the company in another form. Kind of delays many transactions, and delays unltimately lead to too many cancellations.

 

8. Not a major thing, but 7Dana.com is down. Has been for a while...

your title starts with a . (perios) so the search engines will probably bounce things on that one ...

you created things with Microsoft Frontpage for the first page and others and they are not filled in. ..

clicking the link to the store from bottom menu takes u to another page to click on to enter the store . . too many clicks

and you are not using an original osCommerce site, thus all you had to do is add a header and some products

The overall presentation is clear and clean. I second the logo issue. It is difficult to read. The text reaches too far to the right..is it in a table or cell? Also in my opinion, the bottom menu and text after it should all be centered. I'd also like to see the left hand menu raised up closer to the top of the page a bit.

 

Your text "How do these techniques effect your sales?" should read "How do these techniques affect your sales?" Affect is the verb and effect is the noun.

It is but i was just helping the guy out -- if you would have read up the post a bit you would have seen my OsC site listed in one of the post that I asked him to take a look at.

Thanks for the feed back guys. I like some of the suggestions and will try to implement them.

 

The logos look great I will try to convice my boss to implement one of them. (he designed the original).

 

I am fairly new to PHP and it's been very trial and error on my part.

 

The main website is basically an experiment with frontpage we are constantly changing and adding things to it. Just the other day I uploaded about 20 pages to replace blank or redundant pages.
