PappaS Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 Has any one considered releasing a fully modified UK version of this great cart system with CC and Debit Card, UK Postal Mods and the like, I mean I am so not into PHP at all and I am sure there?s 1000s in the same boat basically I have used oscommerce for a while and have gotten used to certain things however with changes to security and the like more and more modifications are required that basically for the complete novice are too complex to implement, what my suggestion is that some of you clever people could help out us newbie?s :) by implementing the relevant UK mods/contribs so we could simply install it and modify the rest via (admin) I know this sounds cheeky and well I apologise but as far as I have been able to find osCommerce seems to be one of the best out there if anyone?s willing to help then that?s great you could contact me via this post or by email [email protected] Cheers in advance.
burt Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 If you do put together a "UK" release, it may be considered a Fork and so would not be welcomed by the Core Team. There are no set guidelines for what is a Fork and what isn't, so it might be OK, but it might not.

Hopefully another US English > UK English, UK Currency, UK County etc. will be welcome by both osCommerce users and osCommerce developers. :)

A complete UK installable version would be fantastic especially if all the end user has to do is upload the files and type "install.php".
Guest Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 A complete UK installable version would be fantastic especially if all the end user has to do is upload the files and type "install.php". It should be best to realease this as a contribution but not as a full installable version. As this would directly effect the osCommerce's copyright. But not to fear, it will only take less than a minutes to install this contribution with osCommerce's default installation.

Guest Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Hi Daz, Credit modules will have to be release seperately. As they can easily be installed at any stage of osCommerce development with minimal conflicts against other contributions. This is the case because unlike localise setups, the credit modules are more "encapsulated" or "self-contained". There are also many credit module related problems that still have yet to be inditified and solved for each of the merchant vendors. For the above reasons I've decided to release a "fresh" UK-Based Installation Pack. In the mean time, if any have additional problems, solutions, tips & tricks on credit card modules for UK. List them here, I'll combine them into an all-in-one solution. Currently I'm working on making Switch (now know as Maestro) fully compatible with the CC Modules. So the more questions & solutions we collect here, the faster the development of UK CC Modules will be.
