boxtel Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 My first try at oscommerce.....and I'd love to have your feedback, but please...be nice! www.cardsandcandles.com <{POST_SNAPBACK}> like your banner a lot, rest is much default osc. reduce your image size, 20K+ for small images is way to big, should be 2-3K Treasurer MFC
Rob123 Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Although, your site is pretty stock (as is mine), I found the colors and layout including the buttons pleasing to the eyes and appropiate. Very nice for a first attempt. I have a problem with the fact that you have your entire site framed (FRAMESET ROWS="100%,*") . I personally found it annoying that the URL never changed but I'm not sure if your customers would really care. However, as I understand web spiders do not like framed pages. Good luck with your site, Robert

Rob123 Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 How do I remove the framed bit and what consequences will it have if I do this? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Based on my research it appears that you use Geekhosting.com as your host and 000DOMAINS.COM as your registrar. If so, Geekhosting.com's FAQ says: 1. How do I point my domain to my new hosting account? To point your domain name to your new GeekHosting.com account, you must modify the domain's nameserver information (DNS). This can be done by the registrar where your domain was registered. Visit your registrar's web site and just follow the directions provided there. If you need help completing this task, open a HelpDesk ticket and we'll assist you with the process. Since 000Domains.com is Geekhosting's "recommeded" registrar (and you are using them) they should be able to help you out. Once the "pointing" is done (about 3 days), you need to change your configure.php files correctly. Until the pointing is complete and you update your configure.php files you can use http://secure.rdns6.net/~cardsand/webstore/catalog/ as your temporary webaddress for testing. Hope that's clear (and helpful). Robert
