Would like an opinion...my images take too long

Hey! Thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past; this board is tremendous. But, I'm not particularly happy with how LOOOOOONG my photos take to download when looking at the website for the first time.

I've had occasions where I've had to delete temp files, empty the cache, etc. and it's only then that I discover just how ridiculously long it takes for my item photos to download and be displayed on-screen.

I'm on a dial-up connection, so....I'm sure that's part of the problem. But.....Here's My Store and whenever I click on a category and then choose a sub-category, it takes FOREVER for the photos of the items for sale to download. I fear that a buyer who has less patience than I will get bored and irritated waiting to SEE what's for sale and say to heck with it.

In my admin page, I have selected a size of 80 X 120. They look great once they've loaded....I sell magazines so I need the photos to be substantial enough that buyers can see and recognize who is on the cover. But....in your opinion, is there a smaller size I could or should use to minimize the download time for other buyers on dial-up? I don't think most of the world is on DSL, so.....any info regarding how to cut-down on the download time of the photos is much appreciated. Thanks!

optimize them with photoshop, your small images are 20K+. optimized they can be 2-3K without noticable quality loss.

Was about to say much the same thing. The images are scaled down to fit the box they are in but they are really much larger so resize the image files in whatever image editor you have to be the size of the box they will be displayed in!

Oh and soaps are NOT real life!!!! :D

I won't be a customer but hey if you can make money from it!!!

Search the contribution area for an automatic thumbnailer...it'll resample it automatically and you won't have to mess with Photoshop.
