Guest Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 Is there any way to upload sound files and embed them into the product description catagory. I am doing a shopping cart for music cd's and the musicians want to allow the visitors to hear a portion of the CD while reading the description of the CD. Pat
♥Vger Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 There should be no problem with uploading sound files, but your server will have to be set up for audio streaming if people are to be able to play them on your site - as opposed to just downloading the files to play. Be aware that most hosting companies are very wary about letting people host music files on their servers, in case people enable downloads of illegal MP3's - so make sure that you have e-mail confirmations that the artists own the copyright, and check it out with your hosting company first. When you add the products to the catalog, you are able to use standard html in the product description area, so there should be no problem with using the <embed> tag in there. Also be aware that if your site is popular then even partial MP3 tracks will greatly increase your bandwidth usage. Vger
Guest Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 thanks Vger That is just what I wanted to hear. Yep I have full sole authority to sell this music on line and nit is actually the artists whom requested that the site visiters be able to listen to samples of their music before buying them. Now if i can just get the layout correct. I have a header that includes a side navigation div and the content for the shopping cart on the right side. All the pages except the index page look perfect but the index page does not line up properly Oh well more tomorrow Pat
