Learning to Customize

Hello,

I have recently set up my open source shop. I love oscommerce so far, it is awesome. I am fascinated by ecommerce and I want to dig into it further.

I was just wondering, where can I go to learn how to customize my oscommerce layout.

I do need to know how to do hardcore customization, just enough to make it look personal, custom, and professional. Im looking to do a bit more then just editing the default stylesheet.css for different colors etc.

What are some good links?

Is there a guide on the net specifcally geared towards this?

Thanks everyone, Hope to learn alot here!

The best thing to do is pick one thing at a time, search for any info you can find in the forums, expirement using the info you find and then when you have a problem ask for help. Things to keep in mind.

1. ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES!!!!!!

2. When you have a problem try and be as specific as possible when asking for help, what you have done already etc. and provide a url. The easier you make it for people to help you the more help you will get.

3. Be patient, sometims it takes awhile for someone who is familiar with your problem to show up and answer your question. There is no paid support here.

4. Do not make untested changes to a live store

Also there are quite a few contributions for helping you alter the looks of your site. That may be a good place to start looking.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
