there is no automatic backup, you have to set that up yourself depending on the OS you are running on

if u r using apache and *nix, you can get more info on how to use CRON in the tips and tricks, to setup a cron job to do an automatic backup of the database file, then immediately following that, to do a 'tar' archive of the whole site. then all you have to do is ftp the copy to your local system the next day.

I'm using it on three sites.  I changed it to back up once a day.

am I correct in the assumption that a backup is only taken when you are actually working in admin ? In other words, if you are away for a few days, no backup ?

That's my understanding. But I'll bet you could work around that.

Where do you download MySQL administrator from?

Also to repeat the question, has anyone worked out how to automate the currency update.

(These two things are the main ones in CPanel that need to be be done regularly)
